Beolab 43

Beolab 43

A sound system proposal for Bang and Olufsen which is designed to possess its presence as strong as a monument. The project origins from a personal complaint about audio manufacturers not exploring the shape of the woofer unit. The idea evolved into a complete set of audio systems and became my first industrial design project. Concluding my curriculum at the ArtCenter, I revisited its design celebrating a project that is monumental to me.

Beyond Grandeur

Bang & Olufsen has created its own path with extraordinary design sense. Throughout its line-up of models, B&O has shown a modern take on craftsmanship and its stereo speakers look architectural and contemplative. With such visual aesthetics, Bang & Olufsen products provide an exclusive experience to users. Having superior visuals and acoustics, the presence of Beolab 43 reaches the point of a masterpiece, beyond an ordinary speaker.

Going beyond a simple electronic device, Beolab 43 fills the atmosphere with powerful energy and an overwhelming presence. As a masterpiece in a gallery or a monument at the sights, Beolab 43 grasps the attention of everyone in the site.

A Monumental Project

In August 2019, I was entering into industrial design realm and I chose a soundbar as my first product to design. For about two months, it had been a pleasant yet challenging time getting acquainted with how industrial designers approach a project. I still remember the moment when I felt awkward about not starting a sketch with four wheels on the ground. In March 2022, I revisited the monumental project while I am concluding and celebrating the graduation.
